Ambiente Frankfurt | International Consumer Goods Trade Fair, Germany
Ambiente is the international consumer goods trade fair at Messe Frankfurt, covering dining, living and giving products for retailers, hospitality buyers, interior designers and project planners. The next edition runs from 29 January to 2 February 2027 in Frankfurt am Main, alongside Christmasworld and Creativeworld. The organiser bills it as the leading and most international fair of its kind.

Ambiente Frankfurt: Overview for Design and Consumer Goods Professionals
Ambiente is organised by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH and is also searched for as Ambiente Messe Frankfurt. It is held once a year at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds, at the end of January or the start of February, and it opens the global trade fair season for tableware, kitchenware, furnishings, decoration and gifts. A day of Compass Talks, a sentiment barometer and panel programme for the industry, usually opens the event on the day before the halls open.
The fair is built for trade buyers, and tickets are sold through the organiser’s online shop. Alongside retail, it has become a meeting point for the contract and hospitality business, so a single visit can cover a shop range, a hotel fit-out and a sourcing round.

Dining, Living and Giving: How the Fair Is Organised
Ambiente splits its offer into three worlds. Dining brings together everything for the laid table and the working kitchen, from tableware and cookware to household goods. Living covers furnishing, interior design, decoration, furniture and lighting, and includes a curated Interior Looks area aimed at furniture and lighting manufacturers. Giving gathers gifts, design and lifestyle products and the accessories that fill a gift shop or a concept store.
The organiser describes the three areas as meeting the needs of retailers and commercial end users alike, which explains the range on show: global brands share the floor with niche artisans, and mass-produced goods sit beside handmade pieces.
Who Exhibits and Who Buys
Across Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld the organiser reports roughly 4,600 exhibitors in recent editions, about nine in ten of them from outside Germany, and around 140,000 visitors, of whom some seven in ten travel from abroad. Italy, China, the Netherlands, the USA and France have been among the strongest visitor nations in the latest survey.
The organiser’s list of top buyers across the three fairs includes Crate & Barrel, El Corte Inglés, IKEA, OTTO, Tesco and Zalando, next to large grocery and drugstore chains. On the hospitality side, hotel groups such as Marriott and Minor Hotels have sent decision-makers, and architects and project planners increasingly make up part of the audience.
Global Sourcing, Ambiente Projects and Ethical Style
Three specialist routes cut across the main areas. Global Sourcing is billed by the organiser as the largest and most international sourcing platform outside China, with specialised exhibitors across six hall levels offering handmade, sustainable and industrially produced goods. Ambiente Projects consolidates the offer for hospitality interiors, contract business and HoReCa, supported by formats such as the Interior Design & Architecture Hub and the Hospitality Academy.
Ethical Style serves buyers who need to trace where a product was made, what it is made of and whether it can be recycled, which makes it a practical shortcut for retailers working to sustainability targets.
Ambiente Trends and Design Direction
Design direction comes from the Ambiente Trends, researched for Messe Frankfurt by the trend agency Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano and staged in the halls as style worlds built from exhibitors’ products. Buyers use them as a quick orientation point for colours, materials and product ranges before they start ordering. Our earlier reports on every edition are collected on our trends page and in the list further down this page.

Consumer Goods Trends Shaping Ambiente Conversations
Three themes keep returning in supplier and buyer talks at Frankfurt. Tariffs and new import rules are pushing retailers to diversify suppliers and move production closer to their end markets, and the organiser’s own Compass Talks have put resilient value chains at the centre of the debate. EU ecodesign rules, including digital product passports, are raising the bar for documentation, repairability and recyclability on products sold into Europe. And buyers want shorter lead times and more varied, smaller production runs, which favours suppliers with flexible factories. Planning Your Visit to Frankfurt
Ambiente shares the exhibition grounds with Christmasworld, the international fair for seasonal and festive decoration, and Creativeworld, the fair for hobby, craft and creative supplies, so one ticket route covers three markets. The organiser reports that between about 60 and more than 80 per cent of visitors to one of the three fairs also visit the other two, which makes a combined trip worthwhile. Messe Frankfurt also links Ambiente to a global network of consumer goods fairs called Conzoom Circle, which carries the Ambiente Trends to events in other regions.
