Global Market Insights & Trends

Live events have come storming back since the pandemic: global ticket sales are up roughly 35% from their post-pandemic low, and the US live events market alone is estimated at close to $490 billion in 2026, on track for steady growth of around 5% a year through the early 2030s. Touring has become genuinely blockbuster business — Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour alone grossed over $400 million — and that scale is pulling serious investment into the technology behind it. Modular LED walls are replacing fixed screens as the default visual centerpiece for arenas and festival stages, blended projection is turning entire venues into storytelling surfaces, and AR and holographic elements are becoming standard rather than novelty additions on major tours.

What’s changing fastest is where the lines between disciplines used to sit. Broadcast and Pro AV are converging in real time: the same integrated systems now power a stadium jumbotron, a corporate keynote and a festival livestream, and AV professionals are increasingly expected to move fluidly between audio, video, lighting and streaming rather than staying in one lane. Fan engagement has become a discipline of its own, with venues investing in real-time audience interaction, mobile-driven activations and data-informed production decisions. North America continues to lead on scale and technology adoption, Europe stays strong on cultural festivals and sustainability-driven production, and Asia-Pacific is growing fastest as regional entertainment markets — from K-pop touring to large-scale attractions — invest heavily in world-class production infrastructure.

Industry News for Live Event Trade Professionals

  • AV and broadcast are formally converging on the show floor: InfoComm 2026 built its flagship showcase around the overlap between broadcast, AV and live entertainment technology, reflecting how stadiums, arenas and entertainment venues now run integrated systems rather than separate audio, video and broadcast setups.
  • Attractions and live entertainment are drawing record demand: IAAPA Expo, the largest global trade show for the attractions industry, is expanding its Orlando footprint for 2026 to accommodate exhibitor demand that continues to outpace available space — a strong signal for suppliers serving theme parks, arenas and experiential venues.
  • Modular LED is becoming the default, not the upgrade: large venues are now installing displays with tens of millions of pixels as standard infrastructure, and LED processor and content-system providers report accelerating demand from arenas and touring productions alike.
  • The AV workforce is being asked to cross disciplines: industry workforce analysis points to shrinking demand for single-discipline technicians and growing demand for professionals who can move between audio, video, lighting, streaming and digital platforms — a shift trade shows are increasingly building education tracks around.

Why Live Event Trade Shows Matter for Professionals

For sound engineers, lighting designers, AV integrators and venue operators, these shows remain the fastest way to see next season’s gear in action, meet the manufacturers building it, and pick up hands-on training before a new system reaches a client’s stage or venue. As broadcast, AV and live entertainment keep converging, staying close to the show calendar is increasingly how professionals keep pace with a discipline that no longer stays neatly in one lane.
