Vienna Fashion Week began in 2009 as a bold experiment by the design label PITOUR and the creative collective creative headz. Their vision was simple yet ambitious — to place Vienna on the international fashion map. From its early days in a temporary tent at the MuseumsQuartier, the event quickly became a stage for Austria’s creative spirit, combining the country’s rich cultural heritage with a forward-looking sense of design.

Over the years, Vienna Fashion Week has evolved far beyond a showcase of collections. It has become a meeting point for art, fashion, and innovation — a place where designers, models, and audiences meet not just to see clothes, but to exchange ideas. Its founders have always emphasized accessibility: alongside the catwalks, pop-up stores and exhibitions invite the public to engage directly with fashion. The event’s intimate atmosphere, framed by Vienna’s imperial architecture, gives it a character distinct from the industry’s global giants.

Recent editions reflect a new maturity. Sustainability, inclusion, and social responsibility now play a central role. Under the 2024 motto Fashion Power, the week introduced projects supporting marginalized groups, explored upcycling and ethical design, and trained young creators and models to build more inclusive careers. In 2025, the event moved indoors to Halle E+G within the MuseumsQuartier, signaling both growth and refinement — less spectacle, more substance.

Vienna Fashion Week remains small compared to Paris or Milan, yet it carries a unique charm: creative independence paired with a genuine social conscience.
