The Location
The MuseumsQuartier Wien is the place where art and culture meet in vienna. Along with digital culture and design, fashion plays a central role in the diversified cultural program of the MQ´s vibrant creative cluster quartier21. A strong fashion collective has emerged in modequartier21 and has taken on the planning and promotion of current activities. Every month, fashion institutions like combinat and MQ Point feature different young austrian designers. Exhibitons at Freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL regularly explore the multifacted social, cultural and artistic aspects of fashion. An artist-in-residence program that invites guest artists from various countries to live and work in quartier21 provides for additional fashion input. Positioned at the intersection of quartier21´s core disciplines fashion and design, MQ VIENNA FASHION WEEK develops the programming for the fashion shows that have been taking place in modequartier21 for several years now. The MQ forecourt functions as a central location for all shows. Ovalhalle, Arena21 and freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL are the indoor event spaces within quartier21.
