Dhaka Fashion Week (DFW) refers to various fashion events held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with Arka Fashion Week being the prominent current event, aiming to showcase Bangladesh’s evolving fashion industry by celebrating designers and brands. The event serves as a platform for runway shows, masterclasses, and marketplaces, with a vision to transform Bangladesh from a garment exporter to a fashion exporter.

Since late nineties, I have been producing and directing fashion shows. However, I have always felt that we lack a common platform where we’d be able to showcase the creativity of the established and emerging fashion professionals alike…and the creations of not only the designers, but also the fashion photographers, fashion journalists, models, choreographers, make-up artists, musicians, light and sound directors, stage directors, and so on. Our aim was to bring all these people together and generate enough interest in Bangladesh fashion industry in both home and abroad, so that in a few years down the line Dhaka could become an international fashion hub like Delhi, London, or New York.
