GFDW stands as a leading platform for commerce that brings together talented and creative designers in fashion, accessories and interior designer entrepreneurs in Ghana, and in the Diaspora alongside international designers, to showcase their collections to local and international retail buyers, Africa’s neo-fashion consumers, influential press, media, and fashion savvy public guests and celebrities.

The event incorporates outstanding display of fashion shows, and a creative Exhibition Pop-Up Salon hub that gives fashion and creative businesses in Ghana, and across the globe the opportunity to exhibit their collections and lifestyle products, and offer creative business solution services alongside the catwalk shows.

History of the Fashion Industry in Ghana
The fashion industry in Ghana is predominately of textiles and clothing and therefore largely consists of local artisans and designers who specialise in the reinvention of traditional clothes such as kente and fugu as well as wax prints with a modern sense of touch. The fashion industry in Ghana emerged in the second half of the 20th century when the first beauty pageant was held in 1957 and the first local textiles manufacturing firm, Ghana Textiles Printing Limited was established in 1966.
