Ecostyle continues high-quality programme of presentations
Design Meets Sustainability – The exhibitors and products at Ecostyle combine both these elements. The format of the event covers a broad spectrum of pioneering eco design products which have all been tested for their level of sustainability by an independent jury. This order and information platform, which is so attractive for trade visitors, was used intensively by international exhibitors straightaway, at its début in 2013, especially for brand positioning. The trade fair includes, in particular, a wide-ranging programme of presentations which ideally supplement the status of sustainable products, conveying the relevant principles, tracing value chains and highlighting forward-looking product design.
Spread out across the mornings and afternoons of the four trade fair days, the presentations and panel discussions will feature scientists as well as industry representatives and associations. One speaker, Irene Vermeuren, Crafts Curator, will talk, for instance, about the latest trends in sustainability, explaining how they came into being. Dr. Melanie Weber-Moritz from the German VERBRAUCHER INITIATIVE e.V. (Consumer Initiative) will give insights into consumer-focused sustainability communication, explaining the value and significance of product labels. Members of the Sustainable Design Centre will focus on questions that should be asked by retailers in their procurement of sustainable products as well as on the role which should be fulfilled by the relevant product marketing. Also, the German trade magazine forum Nachhaltig Wirtschaften (Sustainable Management Forum) will present a varied panel discussion entitled “Successful Sales: Green Products Are Finding More and More Buyers”.
Moreover, the programme will be supplemented by two special shows – the German Eco-Design Award and react. Both exhibitions will highlight pioneering products such as Fairphone. For the smartphone producer social and ecological values are an important foundation for its entrepreneurial activities, enabling the company to plan and establish suitable processes in material extraction, production and waste disposal. On this basis Fairphone uses procedures which set standards in both quality and pioneering design. bionic fire is another avant-garde product, as it has elevated the style and engineering of traditional stoves to a new level. A double furnace section and special thermo-bimetals serve to protect the environment from harmful gases while also ensuring maximum efficiency.
Ruth Lorenz, Head of the New Events Division at Messe Frankfurt, is in no doubt: “Sustainability is by no means a passing trend but an ongoing necessity of which the broad masses of consumers are increasingly becoming aware now.”
From 30 August to 2 September 2014 national and international manufacturers will be presenting sustainable lifestyle and design products. Trade visitors will find products in the segments Interiors & Design, Health & Beauty, Desk & Office, Household & Garden, Sports & Leisure, Fine Foods & Gourmet, Technology & Communication, Children & Toys, Fashion & Accessories and Print & Multimedia.
