A new Art Fair in Amsterdam
Invited by Wim van Krimpen and Francis Boeske, gallery owner and co-organizer, a varied selection of 40 galleries will participate in this first edition; proudly representing the best of the Dutch contemporary art market.
After speaking with gallery owners and art lovers Van Krimpen thought the time ripe for a new Amsterdam art fair with its own qualifications: “I want people to be touched by what they see. In a city like Amsterdam, with so many great galleries and prominent art museums and in a moment when a growing number of people are visiting art fairs, the Amsterdam Art Fair can not and should not be missed”
Wim van Krimpen, former director of the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague and the Kunsthal Rotterdam, as well as the founder of the KunstRAI in 1984, thought it was about time for a new art fair: “With the reopening of the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam has regained its position as the cultural heart of the Netherlands. What Amsterdam now needs is a fair where quality in an international setting is key and where both, the experienced art connoisseur and the fledgling collector feel at home and make unique discoveries”.
Investor Bouwinvest, having recently acquired these venues, offers the possibility to use the Citroën Buildings for temporary initiatives for the promotion of the City of Amsterdam in the field of art, restaurants, sports and culture. Kunsthal Citroën is located in the Noordgebouw- the former car showroom.
Amsterdam Art Fair 2015 will be held in the spectacular garage of Citroën in Amsterdam from May 27th until and including May 31st, 2015.
Klerkx International Art Management is responsible for the PR of the new Amsterdam Art Fair.
